An 1871 Manitoba Rifle Association Award Medal with Case
Silver, obverse illustrating the crowned Manitoba provincial coat-of-arms, a native warrior standing at the left and a soldier standing at the right, a cluster of shamrocks and thistles centred by a rose below the arms, surrounded by a ring of multiple circles in various sizes, reverse with a recessed centre, inscribed "MANITOBA RIFLE ASSOCN INST. 1871" and framed by two branches of maple leaves, surrounded by a beaded border, 38.3 mm, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, maker marked "ALEXr KIRKWOOD & SON Medalists EDINBURGH" on the inside lid, recessed medal bed, case also extremely fine.
