An Army (Heer) M34 Enlisted Man's/NCO's Overseas Cap
Constructed with an Army green wool exterior, fold down panels with downward scallops to the front and forward sides, with metal eyelets on either side, both finished in olive green. Sewn in place on the peak on the front is an Army (Heer) eagle in gray and green machine embroidery, illustrating a right-facing spread-winged eagle, its talons gripping a wreathed swastika below, embroidered tri-colour cockade on a green background sewn in place on the fold down flap below the eagle. The interior is lined in a brownish-green cotton, marked on the left side in black ink "B.A. 41" (Bekleidungsamt 41 = Clothing Department 1941). The cap measures 105 x 270 mm, with evidence of mothing on the exterior, soiling on the interior in the dome and sweat stains near the opening, the stitching intact, better than very fine.
