An Early General Assault Badge in Nickel-Silver; Unknown Maker #2
Badge in hollow version, die struck in nickel-silver, unmarked, excellent details and overall quality, in extremely fine condition. These type of badges were produced early in the War, and are very scarce. Frank Heukemes in his book on General Assault Badges identifies this badge as “Unknown maker #2”, but he points out that most likely maker is Frank & Reif (pages 212-213).
