An Extensive Group to Tiger Tank Commander - (schw. Panzer-Abt.505.): Army tank badge in silver, numbered "25", in zinc alloy, worn, very fine, together with award document, dated 31.10.1944, signed by Major; tank badge in silver, semi hollow, in zinc alloy, marked "A.S"., pin secured by wire as worn, very fine, together with award document, dated 4.12.1943; Iron Cross second class 1939, maker "100", extremely fine, with award document, dated 21.2.1944, signed by Generalleutnant; wound badge in black, with award document dated 15.3.1944, signed by Hauptmann; 17 original photos, mostly panzer photos. All documents awarded to him as a member of 2./Panzer-Abteilung 505, all documents folded, showing age and wear, in good to fine condition. 2nd Panzer Division 505: The unit was formed on the 18th of February 1943. Their first engagement was the Battle of the Kursk Salient, during which time it was equipped with 31 Tiger Tanks and posted with the 9th Army although 26 combat ready Tigers were whittled down to 6 over two days of battle due to Soviet anti-tank mines, they were stable able to destroy 111 enemy tanks. At the end of June and beginning of July 1944, they were attached to the 5th Panzer Division and ordered to support the difficult defensive battle during the beginning of the Soviet summer offensive which was Operation Bagration. The Division was equipped with new Tiger mark II. Tanks from Ohrdruf and commanded to take part in the defense of Lithuania and East Prussia. The unit was present at the defense of Warsaw, and the counteroffensive at Nemmersdorf on the 21st of October 1944. During the beginning of 1945, the unit was defending Konigsberg with their remaining tanks. The rest of the unit was captured by the Soviets on the Curonian Spit.
