An Indian Mutiny Medal to the 13th (Prince Albert's) Light Infatnry - (THOs, Wm, SAMMONS. 1st Bn 13th Lt INFy). Naming is impressed. Original ribbon, contact marks and wear, repaired suspension, fine. Footnote: Thomas William Sammons was born in the parish of St Marys, Lambeth, Surrey. He enlisted into the 13th Foot at Westminster on June 5, 1847, at the age of 14. Sammons was promoted to Corporal on January 5, 1867. He was discharged at Kilkenny on June 25, 1872, after twenty-one years and twenty-two days with the colours. At discharge, he gave his intended place of residence as the Corps of Commissionaires, Strand, London. He is also entitled to the Turkish Crimea Medal as well as the British Crimean Medal.
