An “Eisernes Kreuz 1914 1. Klasse”; silver cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a brass core (nonmagnetic) within a white metal ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central “W” with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse plain, with a tapered pinback, a barrel hinge, and a rounded wire catch; marked “800” for silver content; curved; measuring 42.86 mm x 42.59 mm; weighing 13.0 grams; with some wear to the black paint on the obverse, revealing the brass underneath; overall near very fine condition.
