An M35 Wehrmacht Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer’s Tunic

This is a fine quality and extremely well preserved private purchase “eigentumstück” Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer’s tunic with a shooting lanyard, crafted of high quality feldgrau gabardine. The tunic has no exterior pockets, but features eight aluminum painted and matching pebble-grain cap buttons (magnetic) that run vertically along the opening of the tunic, with eight reinforced button-hole slits on the opposing side marked “Extra Fein” on the reverse, as well as two hook fasteners on the collar opening to ensure a snug fit. The vent on the reverse is ordained with three identical vertically oriented buttons on each side of the slit. This tunic does not feature a breast pocket, award loops, or a Wehrmacht breast eagle. All edges are ordained with fine white-coloured Infantry Waffenfarbe (branch colour) piping. The shoulder boards are constructed of Flaschengrün (bottle green) wool, with white piping, and a blueish-grey backer, and are sewn into the uniform. They appear to be original to the uniform, and there is no evidence of any pips having been removed. The exterior of the collar is equally constructed of Flaschengrün wool and features a set of Infantry NCO’s collar boards constructed of aluminum/silver bullion machine embroidery with a white backer; with matching cuffs. Attached to the exterior is also an early pattern Wehrmacht marksmanship award, constructed of fine quality aluminum/silver bullion wire wrapped around a white fabric core, with an aluminum shield and a fieldgreen backer behind the badge. The lanyard is currently attached to the underside of the right shoulder board via a safety pin. The interior of the tunic is lined with a fine feld grün silk-like fabric, with one horizontal-slit pocket on the left-hand side. Directly below the slit is a maker’s patch with “XKufner, München 23” embroidered in orange thread. Towards the waist of the interior of the tunic is a small belt with a nickel plated (magnetic) metal hook and catch assembly. The sleeves are lined with finely decorated silk-like fabric, sewn into place using white threads. Towards the neck, the tunic is stamped “394”, with further markings directly above that are blacked-out. The interior of the collar features three inward-facing clips that are non-magnetic. The tunic measures 41 cm from shoulder to shoulder, 59 cm sleeve length, 71 cmm from the collar to the bottom. Overall, this is an extremely well preserved and fine quality Infantry NCO’s tunic without major flaws or signs of wear. It exhibits slight soiling around the neckline from wear, but is overall in better than extremely fine condition. (C:100)
