Max bidding example:

An M40 Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Stahlhelm with Field Made Splinter Cover by Quist of Esslingen

A no-decal Wehrmacht Heer (Army) steel helmet by Quist of Essingen. The helmet is crafted of a sheet of molybdenum steel (magnetic) and was painted apple green on the exterior with a matching interior colour. It features stamped air vents on either side of the helmet, with a rolled/crimped rim along the entire helmet, making this a signature M40 type helmet. The interior features an eight-panel butterscotch-coloured leather liner, each with five stamped ventilation holes, and an additional hole at the tip for the drawstring. The drawstring is constructed of tan-coloured twisted rayon. The two-piece chin strap is constructed of medium-thick black leather and is very well preserved. It does not exhibit any cracking, but has faded to a dark brown colour. The steel buckles of the strap are firmly attached to the liner’s frame of the helmet. The underside of the skirt is stamped “N175”, with the wearer’s name “Ltn. Weise”, and is maker marked “Q64” below the left chin strap buckle. This helmet also features a field made cloth splinter camouflage cover constructed of a multi-coloured cotton fabric. The cover also has seven attached loops for the attachment of foliage, as well as a draw string towards the rear. The helmet measures 282 mm x 224 mm. The paint on the interior is moderately well preserved, with very light corrosion throughout. The paint on the exterior is extremely well preserved and nearly fully intact, with slight scratches, but no dents or holes. The liner is likewise fully intact, with minor some signs of wear and age. The frame remains firmly attached to the interior of the helmet via its three attachment clips. Overall better than very fine condition.
