Black and white, gloss finish, obverse with a U.S. Army Signal Corps insignia at the lower left, coded "191150" at the lower right, reverse stamped with an inscription in faded blue ink "SC 191150 After their capture by American forces in France, these German nurses expressed a desire to return to their own lines, so a truce was declared and they were transported back in an American ambulance. 7/4/44. Balleroy, France.", stamped in black ink "SIGNAL CORPS PHOTO / PLEASE CREDIT / RELEASED BY AUTHORITY OF THE BUREAU OF PUBLIC RELATIONS OR BY THEATRE PRESS CENSOR" and "SCHOOL OF PERSONNEL" with "574" in handwritten black ink and inscribed "Stauffer" in pencil, 206 mm x 252 mm, light crazing in the emulsion, near extremely fine.
