Nguyễn Dynasty. (Khai Dinh). Instituted 1889. In jade, weighing 54.4 grams inclusive of its cord and tassels, hand-engraved on both sides with a stylized motif, measuring 86.5 mm (w) x 42.3 mm (h) x 6.8 mm (d), die-holes placed in the centre top and bottom, yellow cord fed through the bottom hole on the badge and knotted at the opposite end where it is tied to the purple, pink and yellow strands forming the two tassels, a lead auction house seal at the junction of the cord and tassels inscribed in circular raised text "BURDON", exhibiting scuffing on both sides, near extremely fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
