An Ornate Yemeni Jambiya
An Ornate Yemeni Jambiya - The short curved steel blade measures 215 mm in length and has a raised fuller on both sides, the saifani hilt has a T-shaped grip, in either ivory or horn (possibly translucent yellow rhinoceros horn), with multiple nails placed along the blackened upper, a brass disk at one end with a stamped coat-of-arms, the matching disk at the other end near the blade having been lost to time, both disks having been held in place by copper pins, the jambiya measuring 295 mm in length overall. The accompanying sheath has an extremely ornate patterned pebbled silver casement, with matching silver tip also in ornate patterned pebbled silver, the tip finished by a crown, with raised triangular insignia on the inside-facing edge and a loop on the reverse for belt placement, leather- wrapped between the two silver entities and on the reverse of the casement, with a wooden core.
