China, Republic. A Rare National Aviation Corporation (CNAC) Cap Badge, c.1944
In die-stamped bronze, unmarked, measuring 55.5 mm (w) x 51.8 mm (h), missing its attachments, exhibiting contact marks and surface wear from active use, fine. Footnote: The China National Aviation Corporation was formed in 1929. They pioneered "The Hump" routes over the Himalayas and helped airlift military equipment and personnel during the days of the war. Several Flying Tiger pilots flew with the CNAC after the original group broke up in 1942. While not truly a military group, the history of the CNAC has many military ties.
