In carved bone, with an eight character rank designation in red paint placed vertically in the centre, trimmed with twin thin rules along the edge on all sides, a hole placed at the top for suspension, with an original lightly frayed cord wrapped in brown and green embroidered strands wrapped around the neck, measuring 48.5 mm (wide) x 124.3 mm (height) x 3 mm (depth), free of chipping, some wear evident on the red painted characters, light contact overall, slight age discolouration to the bone, near extremely fine.
Footnote: This Bai is fabricated from carved bone and takes its shape from the tablets borne by the Chinese mandarins. Bone Bai were worn for regular daily usage within the Palace Grounds at Huế.
