Two-piece construction, large five-pointed star in Gold, mounted to a silver oval base incorporating a swirl design created by overlapping plain leaves, each quadrant bearing nine leaves, hand-engraved with Japanese characters on either side of the pin on the reverse, measuring 35.3 mm (w) x 43.5 mm (h), vertical pinback, very light contact, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, the case with a balsa wood frame, black lacquer finish, recessed medal bed in violet velvet, the bed framed by a raised lip, push release, measuring 62 mm (w) x 73.8 mm (h) x 28 mm (h), the exterior with edge wear and chipping evident on the lid, light scuffing on the bottom, case very fine.
