(瑞宝章). Instituted in 1888 by Emperor Meiji. 1888-2003 issue. A fine enameled white four-armed cross constructed of silver gilt, featuring clusters of five silver-framed rays in each arm, the obverse exhibiting a central silver Yata Mirror, legendary Japanese symbol of purity, on an enameled blue background, surrounded by 16 connected red cabochon glasses, representing the legendary Yasakani jewels, plain reverse with typical Order’s Japanese characters, measuring 44.53 mm (w) x 49.74 mm (h - inclusive of ball suspension), light contact, on original triangular class ribbon with rosette, hook, and eye, extremely fine condition.
