Japan, Empire. A Pair of Imperial Naval Paymaster Shoulder Boards
Upper fabricated from multiple rows of gold-coloured bullion wire, the length-wise edges trimmed on either side in a wide row of purple cotton and a wide row of black wool, bronze gilt button bearing the Imperial Japanese Navy insignia at the shoulder end, underside finished in brown leather, with a brown leather strap emerging from it and housing a magnetic metal clip for uniform attachment, measuring 49 mm (w) x 130 mm (h) each, both boards with wear evident in the purple trim at either end and exposing the underlying cardboard support, along with light discolouration in the bullion, fine.
