Japan, Empire. Two Enthronement Commemorative Medals
Includes:
1. Taisho Enthronement Commemorative Medal 1915 (大正即位記念勲章 / Taishō sokui kinen kunshō). Instituted in 1915. Two-piece construction, chrysanthemum in silver gilt, mounted to a silver base, measuring 30.5 mm in width x 34 mm in height, exhibiting contact marks, on its original ribbon with hook and eye, in its balsa wood box of issue, gilt characters on the lid, base with a recessed medal bed in navy blue felt, measuring 64 mm in width x 112 mm in height x 22 mm in depth, exhibiting light soiling on the exterior.
2. Showa Enthronement Commemorative Medal 1928 (昭和即位記念勲章 / Shōwa sokui kinen kunshō). Instituted in 1928. Two-piece construction, chrysanthemum in silver gilt, mounted to a silver base, dark patina, measuring 30.5 mm in diameter, very light contact, on its original ribbon with hook and eye, in its hardshelled case of issue, dark brown dimpled exterior, gilt characters on the lid, base with a recessed medal bed in white felt, measuring 60.5 mm in width x 105 mm in height x 22 mm in depth, the exterior with edge wear along with a dent in the base on the back panel, the white felt lightly soiled on the interior.
Together, better than very fine.
