Instituted 1936. An eight point star consisting of clusters of five smooth silver rays between clusters of seven smooth silver gilt rays of increasing lengths, the obverse center bears insignia of the order, four red enamelled pillars with four rectangles at each demonstrating a repeated cross, between each pillar lay twelve inset pearls, two small pearls at each base and one larger pearl at the end of a short smooth ray, the direct center presents a yellow enamelled octagon with thin black, white, blue and red enamel borders, reverse center bears Japanese script, along with four intact screws and a vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, measuring 81mm (w) x 81mm (h), pin loose in clasp, evident gilt wear and slight enamel crack on 3 o’clock pillar, near extremely fine condition.

Footnote: The Order of the Pillars of the State was awarded between 1936 and 1945. Approximately 445 II Class Stars were award during that period. 

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society. His knowledge and passion for history and awards is evident in this meticulously compiled collection that is now available in its entirety for the first time exclusively on eMedals.com.
