Korea (Republic, South Korea); Five-piece construction, silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, number impressed "302" on the reverse cartouche, 52.8 mm (w) x 77.5 mm (h) inclusive of its lion head suspension, on an original shortened neck ribbon, intact enamels, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of National Security Merit (Hanja) is one of the Republic of Korea's Orders of Merit. It was instituted in 1967 and is conferred on individuals who have rendered distinguished service to national security, and is primarily a military award. The order is divided into five classes: 1st Class (Tong-il Medal), 2nd Class (Gukseon Medal), 3rd Class (Cheon-Su Medal), 4th Class (Sam-il Medal) and 5th Class (Gwangbok Medal).
