Multi piece construction breast star in silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, along with three violet beads (lower right quadrant is missing the fourth bead), inscribed on reverse with a vertical pinback, measuring at 69.7mm (w) x 76.0mm (h), and weighing at 97.2 grams; accompanied by neck badge on full length ribbon, multi piece construction breast star in silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, along with four violet beads, with suspension, measuring at 68.8mm (w) x 91.5mm (h- to top of suspension) with a ribbon bar and a boutineer.
Footnote: The Order of Diplomatic Service Merit was instituted on July 25, 1963, amended in 1967, with the highest grade added in 1973. It is awarded for meritorious service to the extension of national prestige overseas and to the promotion of friendship with other nations, in six grades: Grand Gwanghwa, Class I, Grade I and Gwanghwa, Class I, Grade II (Class I is divided into two grades, the first only being awarded to Korean diplomats); Heung-In Medal, II Class; Sungrye Medal, III Class; Chang-Eui Medal, IV Class; and Sugjeong Medal, V Class.
