Badge: multi-piece construction, in silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, along with four violet beads, the reverse cartouche in silver with blue enamels and number impressed "368", measuring 57.3 mm (w) x 77.5 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath and crossed feathers suspension, scattered gilt wear, missing its violet bead at 9 o'clock, the enamels scuffed but intact, accompanied by a replacement incorrect full-length sash; and Breast Star: multi-piece construction, in silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, along with four violet beads, the reverse cartouche in silver with blue enamels and number impressed "368", matching that on the reverse cartouche of the Badge, measuring 63.5 mm (w) x 63.3 mm (h), vertical pinback, scattered gilt wear, the enamels scuffed but intact. Better than very fine.
Footnote: The Order of Diplomatic Service Merit was instituted on July 25, 1961, had a major design change in 1967, and later, in 1974, the highest class was divided into two grades. It is awarded for meritorious service to the extension of national prestige overseas and to the promotion of friendship with other nations, in six grades: Grand Gwanghwa, Class I, Grade I and Gwanghwa, Class I, Grade II (Class I is divided into two grades, the first only being awarded to Korean diplomats); Heung-In Medal, II Class; Sungrye Medal, III Class; Chang-Eui Medal, IV Class; and Sugjeong Medal, V Class.
