Instituted in 1896 by King Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah Dev. In Gold, a five-point star sash badge with clusters of delicately etched rays, the obverse medallion in Gold features a sunburst with face above two crossed kukri, reverse plain, marked with Tibetan stamps, measures 57.8mm (w) x 62.5mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 24.4 grams, minimal wear, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by a section of original sash with bow, showing discolouration and wear.
The Star of the Order, featuring a large red enamelled disc with short silver rays around the entire exterior, the obverse medallion features a silver five point star with etched rays and a Gold centerpiece featuring a sunburst with face above two crossed kukri, the inscription on the red enamel translates to “ALL NEPAL IS REFULGENT WITH THAT LIGHT”, reverse with a single vertical pin assembly, marked on reverse, measures 78.9mm (w) x 78.9mm (h), weighs 115.8 grams, enamels intact, minimal wear, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its original black leatherette case of issue, interior silk lid marked HAMILTON & Co LTD Jewellers-Silversmiths CALCUTTA & NEW DELHI, with a raised crème coloured velvet medalbed and lower storage components for the sash, measures 225mm (w) x 173mm (h) x 70mm (d), wear and gashes to exterior, remains in near very fine condition.
