Austria, Empire. An Emperial Austro-Hungarian Pilot’s Cap Badge
(Piloten-Mützenabzeichen). Constructed of silvered tombac, the obverse consisting of an open-ended oval oak wreath, with an eagle crouching at the top of the badge, and the bottom of the wreath decorated with the coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Superimposed onto the badge is a single airplane propeller marked “K.u.K. LUFTFAHRTENTRUPPE”, the reverse plain, with a vertical needle pinback, marked “Arkanzas” on the reverse, measuring 29.11 mm (w) x 31.41 mm (h), in overall good condition.
