In gilded cast fine zinc, illustrating the left-facing bust of Emperor Franz Joseph I, wearing the Order of the Golden Fleece around his neck, with four additional awards that include two medals and two crosses on his left breast, engraver marked "JOHANNES MAYERHOFER 1909" to the right of the bust, measuring 125 mm (w) x 125.8 mm (h), the original two post attachments on the reverse having been severed and lost to time, bruised, scattered gilt wear and spotting, very fine.
Footnote: Franz Joseph I (August 18, 1830 - November 21 1916) was Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, and the other states of the Habsburg monarchy from December 2, 1848 until his death on November 21, 1916. In the early part of his reign, his realms and territories were referred to as the Austrian Empire, but were reconstituted as the dual monarchy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867. From May 1, 1850 to August 24, 1866, Franz Joseph was also President of the German Confederation.
