Austria, Empire. An Honour Decoration of the Red Cross, Officer's Cross with War Decoration
(Ehrenzeichen vom Roten Kreuz). Instituted in 1923. Multi-piece construction, in silver with red, white and green enamels, Austrian hallmarked with a Diana's head (Dianakopf) (which was used between 1872 and 1922), the head flanked by a "2" on the left and an "A" (Vienna) on the right, in addition to being maker marked "G.A.S." (G.A. Scheid) on the lower prong, measuring 47 mm (w) x 56.8 mm (h), the reverse with a dark patina, date engraved "1864" and "1914" on the lateral arms, along with a dual prong pinback, intact enamels, extremely fine.
