An extremely well-preserved lithograph portrait depicting Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The subject is portrayed in muted colour, and wearing an elaborate pearl necklace which extends into her hair. The portrait is surrounded by a gilt border integrated into the paper, and the Empress is situated above her name and title in both German and Czech. The obverse also bears an artist’s name of “F. PLANCK”, and a printer’s mark of “A. PLANCK & SOHN, WIEN”. It is situated within an ornate gilded wooden frame, with all four corners decorated with raised flowers, and topped by a stylized gilded bronze bow. The obverse retains a fully-intact glass face, while the reverse features a sturdy pressed card stock liner. The lithograph measures 52 cm (w) x 62 cm (h) inclusive of frame. Minor loss of gilt finish is visible to the frame, which complements the piece’s distressed and antiquarian feel, and it remains in an overall extremely fine condition.
