(Goldene Tapferkeitsmedaille). Type IV Issued 1914 - 1916. A round gilt bronze medal, the obverse depicting the rightward facing bust of Kaiser Franz Joseph, circumscribed by his name and title; the reverse inscribed “Der Tapferkeit” (German - For Bravery), within a laurel wreath, marked bronze on edge, on a loop for suspension from a correct replacement ribbon, measuring 40.29 mm in diameter; weighing 21.3 grams without ribbon; in very fine condition.
