Austria, Imperial. An Order of the Knights of Malta, Badge of Knight of Magistral Grace of the Grand Priorate of Bohemia
(Souveräner Ritter und Hospitalorden vom heiligen Johannes von Jerusalem von Rhodos und von Malta). Instituted 1099. In silver gilt, a white enamelled Maltese cross with fleur-de-lis in each quadrant, suspended by an ornate crown adorned by an encircled cross which is attached to a ribbon suspension with a white enamelled cross on a red enamelled shield, the reverse of the badge mirrors the obverse, with a plain ribbon suspension reverse, measures 46.65mm (w) x 99.90mm (h), weighs 45.1 grams (excluding ribbon), worn on a replacement black neck ribbon, gilt wear evident on entire obverse, very well made enamels intact, beautiful hand etching and detailing.
