Baden, Grand Duchy. A Silver Merit Medal
(Silberne Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 30 September 1866 by Grand Duke Friedrich I. (1868-1881 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich I, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST” (“FOR SERVICE”), within a circular oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 40.58 mm in diameter, weighing 34.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
