In bronze gilt, a cross pattee with smooth border and pebbled field, original swords pierce the center medallion of which presents a crowned F cypher, the reverse medallion features a rampant left facing lion, measures 42.7mm (w) x 47.1mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 22.8 grams, attached to an ovular suspension loop, an extremely rare and unique item, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: An interesting specimen which served as a model for a decoration within the order with swords that was planned but not implemented. Instead, the Cross of Merit was awarded on the MKFO war ribbon during the First World War.
