(Zivilverdienstmedaille). Instituted on 31 December 1792. Type III. (1808-1918 Issue). A round, silver medal, the obverse presents the right facing bust of Maximilian Joseph, surrounded by the inscription MAXIMILIAN IOSEPH KÖNIG VON BAIERN, the maker mark under the neck section of the bust displays LOSCH, the reverse centre presents the five-line inscription DEM VERDIENSTE UM FÜRST UND VATERLAND (THE MERIT OF PRINCE AND FATHERLAND), surrounded by a wreath composed of laurel leaves on the left and oak leaves on the right, tied with a double bow, measuring 35.85 mm in diameter, weighing 19.6 grams, on loop for suspension from period original triangular ribbon, and in overall good condition.
