What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Belgium, Kingdom. An Order of Leopold I, V Class Knight, c. 1900

(Ordre de Léopold / Leopoldsorde). Instituted in 1832. In silver with red, black, white and green enamels, both centrepieces in Gold, unmarked, monogram "LL RR II" on the reverse centrepiece, measuring 42.7 mm (w) x 75 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, chipping and repair evident in the white enamels on the right tip of the arm at 6 o'clock on both sides, scattered chipping in the green enamels of the wreath on both sides, original ribbon, better than fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, red pebbled exterior, inside lid lined in white satin, padded and maker marked "AUX ORDRES DE CHEVALERIE / 7. Rue de Solférino / PARIS / VIIe", medal bed in light yellow felt, push release, measuring 67.5 mm (w) x 128 mm (h) x 32 mm (d), edge wear evident on the exterior, light discolouration on the medal bed, case better than very fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Leopold I was instituted on July 11, 1832. It was awarded for exemplary bravery in war and especially distinguished service to the Belgian state, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight, in Civil, Military and Maritime Divisions.
