In silver, a shield shaped medallion with a large silver gilt lily with semi-precious stones (zirconia), with a silver wreath partially encircling it, the reverse is plain (wreath is hollow), the badge is surmounted by a silver and green enamelled device with a small semi-precious stone at each end below a large central stylized lily, the reverse of the suspension features a pin and pinch clasp, marked S990 and SF denoting manufacture by the workshop of Fahrudin Softic from Sarajevo, measures 32.6mm (w) x 51.6mm (h – including suspension), weighs 16.4 grams, enamels intact, dark patina, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: On April 14, 1994, the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Government of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, established the Medal for Courage by the Decree with legal force on decorations of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Medal for Courage is awarded to members of the armed forces of the RBiH who, in the fight against the enemy, performed one or more acts in which their personal courage stood out.
This medal is also awarded to citizens for the aforementioned actions, as well as to those citizens who, in dangerous situations, save human life and material goods, and perform an act in which personal courage stood out.
