Bulgaria, Kingdom. A Pair of Decorations
A pair of decorations, including an Order of Merit, II Class Silver Grade, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, the obverse consisting of a laurel leaf wreath, around a medallion bearing a central raised and leftward-facing profile of Tsar Ferdinand I, with crossed swords piercing the centre, the reverse bearing a Bulgarian coat of arms, circumscribed by an inscription of “ЗА ЗАСЛУГА” (“FOR MERIT”), topped by a ball suspension, unmarked, measuring 33.47 mm (w) x 40.70 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a red canvas exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact high cover, with a depressed black velvet medal bed, unmarked, measuring 62 mm (w) x 96 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), with staining visible to the medal’s ribbon consistent with oxidation of the suspension, in addition to material fatigue of the case which includes the locking mechanism being rendered non-functional, in better than very fine condition, and; an Order of Civil Merit, IV Class with Crown, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, unmarked, measuring 45.76 mm (w) x 48.84 mm (h) (not inclusive of suspension), weighing 24.1 grams, in better than very fine condition.
