Footnote: Thomas Emmett Merrigan was born on February 11, 1920, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Merrigan of Montreal, Quebec. He was also the husband of Anna Merrigan, also of Montreal, the couple marrying in 1940. Merrigan was serving as a Lance Corporal (D/117603) with the Canadian Provost Corps when he died on August 15, 1945, at the age of 25. He is buried in Notre Dames des Nieges Cemetery, Section P, Lot 446, in Montreal and is commemorated on page 545 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.
