Canada. A Second War 16th Canadian Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers Plaque
In bronze, designed in the shape of a shield, obverse illustrating six scenes, featuring four battle scenes in the centre grouping, each with an accompanying caption, clockwise from the top left: "D-DAY, CHANNEL PORTS, SCHELDT POCKET, EMMERICH", the Royal Canadian Engineers insignia flanked by "NORMANDY - JUNE 6/44" and "MAY 5/45 - N.W. GERMANY", surmounted by two planes in flight in the clouds and framed by a ribbon banner inscribed "1940 16 CANADIAN FIELD COMPANY 1945", the outer frame bearing the various names of conflicts that the 16th Field Company participated in during the Second World War, the scene at the bottom of the shield illustrating a bridge on a pontoon being towed in the water, with a ribbon banner below inscribed "ROYAL CANADIAN ENGINEERS" above "50", blank reverse, measuring 73.2 mm (w) x 89.7 mm (h), light contact on the reverse, near extremely fine.
