Multi-piece construction, in silver, maker marked "TROWERN TORONTO" on the reverse of the crossed rifles suspension, obverse engraved and illustrating a shooting target within a wreath composed of two branches of laurel leaves, framed within a reeded border, reverse engraved with stylized swirls and the inscription "WON BY J.B. MITCHELL OTTAWA SEPt 5/85" framed within a reeded border, the suspension above composed of a beaver fronting crossed rifles, with an arched ribbon banner above engraved "D. R. A. 1885" (Dominion Rifle Association 1885), all of which is suspended from a hanger engraved "ONTARIO" above the number "8" with pinback, measuring 41.5 mm (w) x 47.5 mm (h), very light contact, original ribbon, near extremely fine.
