Germany, Wehrmacht. A General Assault Badge

(Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, with a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 42.15 mm (w) x 52.86 mm (h), weighing 30.1 grams, with most of the silver finish lost, in overall better than very fine condition.
