Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of a central square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade on top of a magnetic metal backplate, flanked on each side by four sun rays and four oak leaves with acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “PEEKHAUS, BERLIN” and maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.59 mm (w) x 25.86 mm (h), weighing 36.2 grams, with most of the bronze finish lost, in overall very fine condition.
