Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Geneva Cross with white enameled arms, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion bearing a red enameled Geneva Cross, circumscribed by a gilt inscription of “DEUTSCHES ROTES KREUZ” (“GERMAN RED CROSS”) on a black enameled ring, the reverse pain, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original shortened neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 52.08 mm (w) x 58.02 mm (h), weighing 35.6 grams, a crack is evident to the reverse enamel along with some minor flecking, in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
