$1,400
(Heer Sudfront Waffenrock). A very well-preserved Heer Panzer Officer’s Summer “Sudfront” tunic, constructed of olive-drab cotton twill. The tunic features a forest-green wool collar, flanked on each side by tabs constructed of a forest-green wool base, each bearing dual machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire insignia bisected by rose-pink threaded bands. Each tab measures 40 mm (w) x 70 mm (l). Both shoulders bear an integrated loop and pebbled magnetic metal button for the accommodation of shoulder boards. The shoulder buttons are each stamped on the reverse with the logo of maker Overhoff & Cie, Lüdenscheid. Each breast flap bears two pockets, all opening with horizontal flaps and reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled magnetic metal buttons. Stitched into the tunic above the upper left breast pocket is an insignia in the form of a forest-green wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika. The breast insignia measures 100 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). The tunic is closed with three pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting four reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. The interior is plain with the exception of a black ink stamp of “31”. It measures approximately 440 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 565 mm and an overall length of 700 mm. In addition to the absent shoulder boards, one breast flap buttons is missing, and there is some material fatigue to the tunic and breast insignia. The tunic is in an overall better than very fine condition.
