Constructed of blackened magnetic iron, on loop for suspension from a Combatant’s version ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse marked with the logo of an unidentified maker, measuring 37.43 mm (w) x 42.76 mm (h), weighing 11.4 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two two pieces of card stock with a faux brown leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded beige satin lid liner bearing an inscription of “TREUE UM TREUE” (“LOYALTY FOR LOYALTY”) above a signature of Paul von Hindenburg, with a depressed beige felt medal bed, measuring 60 mm (w) x 90 mm (l) x 28 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
