It begins with a summary of the various sporting events held at the Winter Olympics at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, from February 6 to 16, 1936, followed by a brief history of the first forty years of the modern Summer Olympic Games, beginning with Athens in 1896 and concluding with the previous Games held in Los Angeles in 1932. The second half of the book features an extensive preview of the upcoming 1936 Summer Games at Berlin, covering the events, the venues and the athletes from the participating countries, including many of the German potential medalling athletes. Also featured are a series of brief synopsis of the fifty countries expected to compete at the Games, along with the insignia of their respective Olympic Associations in colour. It contains 152 black and white and 21 colour plates, many of which are gloss-finished and individually pasted into position, with other black and white full-page photographs inserted at various intervals, complemented with numerous line drawings throughout, along with a colour four-panel fold out map of the Olympic venues placed just inside the back cover. A production control tag numbered "EG429" comes with the publication, inserted loose beside page 2. The book contains 128 pages of text printed in black ink, with colour added in selected locations, on a thick off-white newsprint stock, measuring 240 (w) x 313 mm (h) x 25 mm (d). Very light contact evident on the exterior covers, the contents of the book pristine. Near extremely fine.
