Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised date of “1.OKTOBER 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), on loop for suspension from its period original parade-mounted ribbon with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 32.09 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition; accompanied by its award document, named to “BRUNO GRENZ”, a stoker/boiler operator at Kriegsmarinewerft Kiel, issued on 23 August 1940, featuring a handwritten signature of an unidentified Korvettenkapitän, measuring 210 mm (w) x 296 mm (h), the document displays numerous folding creases which have been reinforced on the reverse with tape, in overall fair condition.
