An Early SS Dagger by Ernst Pack & Söhne - The key feature of this desirable/early dagger is the condition of the blade. It rates at a better than extremely fine. It has beautiful crossgraining, exhibiting the usual in and out runner marks, with sharp edges and a very sharp tip. Engraved "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" on the blade, maker marked "E.P. & S. SOLINGEN" (Ernst Pack & Sohne) with the company's attractive hammerman insignia in the centre on the ricasso. Nickel plated fittings on the crossguards, marked "I" on the reverse of the lower crossguard, exhibiting very light contact and wear. Black wooden handle with light contact, only slight spaces between the handle and crossguards. The embedded aluminum eagle rates better than very fine. The SS insignia also exhibits light contact overall, with two small chips at theseven o'clock position. The scabbard fittings exhibit light contact, the chape slightly loose, dent on the end of the final causing separation at the seam. Extremely fine.
