Bavaria, Kingdom. A 1773 Agricultural Merit Medal, by Franz Andreas Schega

(Verdienstmedaille). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bearing a raised rightward-facing profile of Elector Maximilian III, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central raised figure wielding a scythe and bundle of wheat, topped by an inscription of “LOHN DES ACKERBAUES” (“REWARD OF AGRICULTURE”), above a date of “1773”, the obverse maker marked “SCHEGA”, measuring 39.38 mm in diameter, weighing 26.4 grams, a slight loss of silvering is evident to both the obverse and reverse.
