(Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Gebirgsjäger). An extremely well-preserved Heer Gebirgsjäger EM/NCO’s M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool twill. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, offering ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two pebbled zink buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Affixed to the left side is a magnetic metal insignia consisting of an edelweiss with a six-bulbed stamen, measuring 50 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) overall. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon trapezoid base, bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika above a tricolour cockade. The peak insignia measures 60 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) overall. Completing the exterior features is a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical field-grey wool twill. A dark brown rayon-blended liner encompasses the interior, and presents plain with the exception of a black ink size stamp of “60” on the crown. The illegible remnants of an additional mark are visible just underneath the size stamp. The cap measures approximately 205 mm (w) x 260 mm (l) x 140 mm (h). Slight material fatigue is evident, which includes cracking of the visor core and some interior soiling, but the cap is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
