$341

Fabricated from a black wool on the exterior, featuring the classic high peak, the hidden fabric-wrapped roll frame giving definition to the shape of the cap. There are dual black-finished metal eyelets for ventilation placed on either side on the overhang. It has a 40 mm wide band in black felt around its circumference. There is a 56 mm (w) x 60 mm (h) United States Army officer's cap badge in fire gilt bronze on the front, the cap badge bearing the Army Great Seal eagle insignia and is affixed to the cap via a screwback that is secured on the inside of the cap. The panels of the black felt band on either side are both adorned with a length of ten clusters of oak leaves and acorns in fine gold-colored bullion wire, the raised midribs of the leaves in rolled gold-coloured bullion wire.

The stiff visor is finished in black wool on the upper, with a single arc consisting of two facing branches of oak leaves and acorns in fine gold-colored bullion wire, the raised midribs of the leaves in rolled gold-coloured bullion wire. There is a strap in fine gold-colored bullion wire with dual adjustable sliders matching the strap, running across the front between the brass buttons on either side, each of the buttons bearing the Army Great Seal eagle insignia. The underside of the visor is in a black chequer-patterned synthetic material, the underlying stiff framework on the sidewalls fabric-wrapped. It incorporates a 43 mm wide sweatband in leather, the upper with a smooth cinnamon brown finish, the ends of which are stitched together and finished with a cinnamon brown ribbon at the rear. It is perforated in multiple angled rows for ventilation, around the entire sweatband, the rows consisting of four holes each. A protective pad in pressed fabric is placed under the sweatband, butting the visor, to protect the wearer's forehead. The sidewalls and dome are lined in orange nylon, the dome incorporating a clear moisture shield, covering the diamond-shaped manufacturer's label in maroon inscribed "Berkshire De Luxe / Trade Mark Reg. / Distinctive in Style and Construction" and displaying the company's eagle insignia.

Attached to the dome is a plastic sleeve with an owner's Identification Card, the card inscribed in pencil "TARRANT". The underside of the sweatband is marked in three locations: with two Berkshire manufacturer stamps in red ink on the right side, size stamped in black ink "7 3/8" at the right rear, with a "7 3/8" size label affixed at the left front. In addition, there is a manufacturer's warranty label ("number QMC PD 241 and was produced under certificate number 3-236A 3-3555F") placed at the left rear on the sidewall. The cap measures 265 mm in width x 300 mm in depth x 147 mm in height, exhibiting two moth holes on the black wool upper on the visor just under the strap, otherwise, the remainder of the cap is free of mothing, with light wear evident on the button on the right side holding the strap. It is of very fine quality manufacture, the cap badge and bullion remaining pristine. Near extremely fine.
