Germany, Third Reich. A Philipp Holzmann Medallion

(Philipp Holzmann Medaille). Constructed of a bronzed zink alloy, the obverse bearing a raised Stahlhelm overlaying a shovel and pickaxe, circumscribed by an inscription of “DEM ARBEITER ZUR EHR, DER HEIMAT ZUR WEHR” (“TO THE WORKERS GOES THE HONOUR OF DEFENDING THE HOMELAND”), the reverse bears a central inscription of “PHILIPP HOLZMANN” for the eponymous construction firm, topped by a date of “1938” and above an inscription of “FREIBURG I/B”, measuring 36 mm in diameter, with some oxidation evident, in overall very fine condition.
