(Heer Säbel für Offiziere). An extremely well-preserved Heer Officer’s Model 1765 “Prinz Eugen” sabre, measuring 970 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 810 mm-long polished magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and unspoiled edged. Presenting with a gentle curvature, the blade features double-sided fullers running approximately three quarters of its length. It is plain with the exception of a maker’s mark near the reverse ricasso of “ORIGINAL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN”, circumscribing the firm’s classic logo of a squirrel clutching a sword.

The blade sits firmly within a brass hilt, featuring an integrated crossguard bearing a raised Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika on the obverse. The seam where the blade meets the crossguard retains an original red leather buffer pad. An additional insignia is set onto the pommel, and consists of a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of polished, ribbed black celluloid, with the ribbing retaining a length of period original silver wire cord. Wrapped around the hilt is a period original portepee, consisting of a blade leather strap with dual machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire tresses running its length. Suspended from the strap is a stylized acorn constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire. The sabre is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft shaped into an analogous curvature.

The upper portion of the shaft features an integral loop for attachment to a hanger. The throat retains a functional spring catch, securely holding the sabre in place during storage, and is held together by dual side rivets. It demonstrates only minor issues consistent with age and use, including slight pitting along the lower edge of the blade and loss of finish to the brass features. This classic Eickhorn-designed sabre is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
